King Oscar Lodge sponsored a team of students from Walter Payton College Preparatory High School in Chicago for this year’s Academic Bowl who ended up taking 3rd Place.
On April 11, on our stated meeting day we hosted an Academic Bowl Dinner honoring the team members and their coach and exchanged some fellowship at Jefferson Masonic Temple’s dining hall. After dinner WM Lozich presented the team with a Certificate from the Grand Lodge of Illinois in recognition to their accomplishment and we heard a speech from the coach and the team lead.
Afterwards our guests enjoyed a quick guided tour of the lodge room conducted by our RWB Gary Hardesty who enriched their knowledge by sharing an overview on Freemasonry and some fun facts.
Later that evening WM Lozich presented W. Bro. Craig Stewart with a 25 year Certificate and pin and W. Bro. Richard Sobotta with his 45 year Certificate and pin thanking them for their service to Masonry and to our lodge in particular.
We then concluded the night with the Eureka Challenge.
