A
t our first stated meeting of the month of May, King Oscar Lodge held a Past Masters Dinner in honor of our PMs who are instrumental in offering guidance and wisdom during their tenure as we all make our progress in Freemasonry.
After many years, we were pleased to welcome in the dining room hall a recent widow and daughter of one of our Past Masters, now in the Eternal East, who served our Lodge back in 1972, WB Gordon A. Nystrom!

The Ladies shared a few fond memories with us during the dinner hour. Among these, they told us about the story of the former home of King Oscar Lodge at the Temple building in Chicago (1630 W Wilson, at Paulina) that was sold all of a sudden, without prior notice, to the American Indians who established their Center leaving the Lodge without a meeting place. They also spoke about the first Blood Drive ever organized by their loved one and donated us a bag of new, vintage lapel pins depicting a drop of blood with the masonic square and compasses that will be distributed to the next donor participants in the Community Blood Drive scheduled at Jefferson Masonic Temple on Saturday, May 16.

They also left with us a copy WB Gordon’s letter dated 4-5-2005 which summarizes the accomplishments and events (including the Past Masters dinner) during his year as Master that was later read in the Lodge room during our meeting by WM Hardesty. It contains a few fun facts (other than the two mentioned above) and gives us an interesting perspective on what was happening over 50 years ago. Read on or download it here.
Also, during the meeting all Past Masters present were individually recognized and thanked for their masonic service.
